Network security is the process of preventing and detecting unauthorized use of your computer. Prevention measures help you to stop unauthorized users (also known as “intruders”) from accessing any part of your computer system. Detection helps you to determine whether or not someone attempted to break into your system, if they were successful, and what they may have done.

Why network security?

You probably do not want strangers to read your email, or examining personal information stored on your computer, or  view or enter some critical places in your network (such as financial statements).

Intruders (also referred to as hackers) Often want to gain control of your netwotk, so that they can launch attacks against you and other users in your network.

Having control over your network gives them the privilage to manipulate your network and hack into your transactions.

network security mitigates these problems by providing policies adopted by a network administrator to prevent and monitor unautorized access, misuse, modification, or denial of a computer network and network-accessible resources.
